They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself
–Andy Warhol
- As 2009 takes off like a herd of jazzed-up throughbreds on a windy day (I honestly didn’t prepare myself for 2009 at all…) I wanted to emphasize change. A new year is like a clean slate. This time last year, I was looking forward to a vacation with my best friends and graduation. At this point in my life, I’m simply looking to do better…in every aspect of my life. Which of course includes my passion for horses…
So to encourage other to continue to balance their lives with day to day activities and their equestrian habits, here is a small list of what I hope to achieve. Perhaps they will inspire you to make your own list
- Open a savings account. Dedicate it ONLY for equine related costs. Such as lessons, halters, grooming towels, saddle soap, boots, etc.
- Get a DVD or find a gym with pilates or other equestrian-beneficial classes to improve my balance, focus (and overall health).
- Continue REGULAR training. Once a week is good. More than twice is pretty darn good.
- Enter a few shows for the summer.
- See how much is leftover in the savings account for 2010.
Lesson learned: Give yourself lots of small steps to change things. Give yourself too big a bar right away, and you’re bound to fail. Take every little step and smile when your list is completed…look at that! Put them all together! Look at what a change!
Happy New Year and Happy Trails!
